Pupil Leadership Team

Our children's mission statement is

Loving- Laughing- Learning: We are God's amazing gift.

What is a Student Leadership Team

A Student Leadership Team is group of students who are elected to represent the views of all pupils and to improve their school.

What are the aims of the Student Leadership Team?

  • To make sure that our school is a safe and happy place for children.
  • To make sure that children have a place to voice their concerns.
  • To encourage all children in the school to suggest improvements.
  • To make sure any suggestions or concerns are listened to and acted upon.

What does the Student Leadership Team do?

The Student Leadership Team will meet to discuss and sort out problems. They then share council ideas and decisions with their class. Members of the school council will be responsible for carrying out the ideas that have been agreed, such as planning fundraising events, writing newsletter articles, or meeting with catering staff.

Who are the Student Leadership Team?

Each year, every class will elect 2 children from their class to be members of the school council. The children run it and are all expected to have a job. They will elect the following:

Chair                               Leads the meeting.

Vice-chair                       Takes turn with the Chair to lead the meetings.

Secretary                       Writes minutes in the meeting and types them up afterwards.

Alerting Officers           Collects all School Council members for meetings.

Registration Officer       Takes the register at each meeting.

Bloggers                          Writes updates on Council actions for the website.

Event Photographers       Prepares posters on the computer and displays them around the school.

Ideas Box Officers         Collects the idea box for each meeting.

How can we make our Student Leadership member a good one?

A good Student Leadership member is one that represents the views of all students and gets things done. We will have regular meetings and good communication between the council and the rest of the school.

The Student Leadership Team is made up of representatives comprising children from Year 1 – Year 6.

The Student Leadership Team looks at our Mission Statement for its values.

The School Council is about:
– Learning to work together
– Learning about democracy
– Learning how to play a positive role in our community

The Student Leadership Team's job is to involve everyone

– Providing a link between children and adults working in school
– Finding out about things children want to change
– Coming up with ways to make things better
– Putting those ideas into action
– Seeing what works (evaluating)

Student Leadership Team Ideas Box

The Student Leadership Team has an ‘ideas box’ near our display board in the hall. It will be available for anyone to pop their ideas on a note and put it in the box. At every school council meeting the box will be emptied, the notes will be read out and the members will discuss the ideas to see if there is anything they can do to bring them to life. We regularly conduct pupil voice surveys and the results feed into our school decision making.
